Great success for the third edition of the Brescia Bike Festival
After three days turning the spotlight on cycling, with the centre of Brescia animated by 18 events including rides, workshops for children, shows, exhibitions, conversations about health and fun challenges, the third edition of the Brescia Bike Festival came to a close having seen the enthusiastic involvement of 10,000 participants.
Officially inaugurated on Friday evening at Bike Point Brescia in Largo Formentone together with the winners of the “Al lavoro in bicicletta” contest and the winning class of the #iopedaloperchè contest, as well as the street show “La cucina errante”, the Festival then continued on Saturday, when the Brescia public flocked to Piazza Vittoria to participate in the packed calendar of events dedicated to both children and grown-ups. The special edition of “Travel Notes ... at the Bike Festival”, the famous format of short conversations organised in collaboration with the Brescia Medical Association, and the exhibition of historic bicycles in collaboration with Pedale Vintage, went down particularly well.
There was another great turnout on Sunday, the third and last day of the Festival, marked by the presence of the cycling champion Maurizio Fondriest who chatted about his career, letting us in on anecdotes and secrets. Next came the exciting “Bike Festival Music Show”, followed by the eagerly-awaited “Challenge the Champion” event with 60 participants, including former professionals and cycling enthusiasts who took part in the fun, carnivalesque challenge using bikes from the Bicimia bike sharing service to compete for a place in the final round against the champion.
