SANPOLINO METRO: FINAL STAGE OF WORK ON NOISE-REDUCTION BARRIERS UNDERWAY
Work is continuing on the installation of noise-reduction barriers along the elevated section of the metro line near Sanpolino station. The project, now in its final stages, aims to improve living conditions in the neighbourhood and reduce the noise impact of the metro line.
When
Traffic changes will come into effect from 3 June, and metro service changes will run from 9 June to 7 August, with a replacement bus service (new line 20) in operation.
How the metro service will change
- Monday through Friday (weekdays)
Between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., the metro will operate exclusively on the Prealpino–Poliambulanza route.
During the same time period (7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.), service between Poliambulanza and Sant’Eufemia / Buffalora will be temporarily suspended.
Until 6:45 a.m., the metro will run along the entire line, from Prealpino to Sant’Eufemia – Buffalora.
The last train on the entire route will depart at 6:45 a.m. from both terminal stations. Procedures to close the affected stations will begin between 6:50 a.m. and 6:55 a.m.
- Saturday and Sunday
Regular service will operate on the entire line throughout the operating hours.
Replacement bus service: new Line 20
To ensure connections to the eastern part of the city, the new Line 20 will be introduced, a replacement bus service between: Poliambulanza – Sant’Eufemia / Buffalora.
The route will stop at the metro stations affected by the temporary suspension of service (Poliambulanza, San Polo Parco, San Polo, Sanpolino and Sant’Eufemia-Buffalora).
Work in the area of the Corso Bazoli roundabout will continue through Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Starting Thursday, July 9, with the reopening of the roundabout between Corso Bazoli and Via degli Alpini, several changes to the route of Line 20 will take effect.
Frequency
The approximate frequency will be every 13 minutes.
Starting Monday, July 6, the frequency will be approximately 9 minutes, to reduce wait times.
Operating hours
Bus Route 20 will operate during the same hours as the metro service suspension: from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm.
Changes to bus routes
To allow the works to be carried out safely, from Wednesday 3 June, the north side of Corso Bazoli will be closed in stages and temporary diversions will be introduced for bus routes 8, 9 and 16.
Lines 8, 9, 16 and the metro replacement service: diversion - phase three
Heatwaves
In the event of orders issued by the Lombardy Region relating to heatwaves, construction site activities may continue until 8.00 pm.
On the days in question, the service on Line 20 will also be extended until 8.00 pm. All changes to the service will be communicated daily via the Brescia Mobilità Group’s channels.
