TO THE CASTLE BY ELEVATOR IN NO TIME: THE DETAILED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW ELEVATOR HAVE BEEN AWARDED.
The Brescia Castle Elevator project has taken a decisive step forward with the awarding of the integrated contract for the detailed design and construction of the new mechanized connection between Fossa Bagni and the Castle.
Following the mandate entrusted by the City Council last March, Brescia Mobilità, acting as the project implementing body, has completed the European tender procedure and awarded the works to the temporary consortium of companies comprising FL Costruzioni & Autotrasporti S.r.l. (lead company), A.B.P. Nocivelli S.p.A. and Maspero Elevatori S.p.A., with A&I Progettazione Integrata scarl appointed to carry out the detailed design.
The aim is to open the construction site by summer 2026, in coordination with the works for the new Fiera–Pendolina tram line, and to inaugurate the facility by the end of 2027.
The elevator will allow passengers to reach the top of Cidneo Hill in just two and a half minutes and will be able to transport up to 40 people per trip along a 115-metre route. The project forms part of the broader transformation of Fossa Bagni, which is set to become a major mobility hub thanks to the interchange between the metro, urban buses, tram, underground parking and Bicimia bike sharing.
Innovative, accessible and sustainable, the new elevator represents a step forward towards more modern and inclusive urban mobility, bringing Brescia Castle closer to the city and making it even more accessible, enjoyable and better connected.
