Who can enter

Access and movement in Brescia's Limited Traffic Zone (LTZ, in Italian Zona a Traffico Limitato or ZTL) are limited to particular categories of users and vehicles:

  • Police forces excluding local police
  • Ambulances
  • Fire fighters
  • Taxis and cars with driver
  • Marked police vehicles
  • Emergency vehicles and ambulances
  • Vehicles with permits for the disabled
  • Bicycles
  • Suppliers of local businesses for loading and unloading goods (only from 6:30 am to 10:30 am)
  • Vehicles for activities of loading/unloading (max 30 min) for local residents and businesses, or with authorised access to driveways, Piazza Paolo VI, Via Beccaria, Vicolo Sant'Agostino, Via G. Bevilacqua (to qualify for this option a specific request must be made, submitting the licence plate number to the Mobilità e Traffico office or to permessiztledisabili@comune.brescia.it)
  • Vehicles of the Prefecture and the Provincial government explicitly granted access to the courtyard of Broletto palace
  • Taxis and cars with driver
  • Marked police vehicles
  • Emergency vehicles and ambulances
  • Vehicles with permits for the disabled
  • Bicycles
  • Suppliers of local businesses for loading and unloading goods (only from 6:30 am to 10:30 am)
  • Vehicles for activities of loading/unloading (max 30 min) for local residents and businesses, or with authorised access to driveways, Corso Zanardelli and on the stretch of Via F. Cavallotti from house number 4 to Corso Zanardelli (to qualify for this option a specific request must be made, submitting the licence plate number to the Mobilità e Traffico office or to permessiztledisabili@comune.brescia.it)

Authorised to pass through all remaining access points:

  • LTZ Residents R (R gold and R)
  • Owners of cars with a parking space on private land in the LTZ (garages, courtyards) PM
  • Merchants M
  • Craftsmen and maintenance workers - OE
  • Sales agents - OE
  • Permit holders CS
  • Authorised doctors on urgent home visit
  • Electric cars
  • Bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles
  • Vehicles of institutional bodies/public services with visible markings
  • Public transportation
  • Emergency and first aid
  • Vehicles for the supply of medicines
  • Taxis
  • Vehicles of funeral parlours with visible markings
  • Veicoli dei soli venditori ambulanti
  • Vehicles of street vendors

Vehicles can access after registering their license plate number with the Access Control Office of Brescia Mobilità (tel. 030.306.1115). Any purchases/sales of motor vehicles must be communicated to the same office by fax or email infoztl@bresciamobilita.it.

Loading and unloading activities
For loading/unloading using vehicles like trucks and vans it is necessary to observe the following guidelines:

  • LIMITED TRAFFIC ZONE "ordinary"
    • Monday to Saturday, from 6:30 am to 10:30 am (with the obligation to leave the LTZ by 10:45 am)
    • Monday to Friday, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm (with the obligation to leave the LTZ by 3:45 pm)
       
  • PIAZZA DELLA LOGGIA 
    • With the exception of market days or days with other events and initiatives, access to Piazza della Loggia is not allowed at any time.
       
  • PIAZZA PAOLO VI, CORSETTO S. AGATA CORSO G. MAMELI 
    • Monday to Saturday from 6:30 am to 10:30 am (with the obligation to leave the LTZ by 10:45 am) excluding market days or days with other events and initiatives.
    • With particular reference to Piazza Paolo VI, access to the northern part of the Piazza (from Via C. Querini) is allowed to vehicles for loading/unloading (max 30 min) residents and merchants present in Piazza Paolo VI, Via Beccaria, Vicolo Sant'Agostino, Via G. Bevilacqua (to qualify for this option a specific request must be made, submitting the licence plate number to the Mobilità e Traffico office of the city of Brescia or to permessiztledisabili@comune.brescia.it
       
  • CORSO ZANARDELLI
    • Monday to Saturday, from 6:30 am to 10:30 am (with the obligation to leave the LTZ by 10:45 am)

Vehicles carrying goods in all areas of the LTZ on behalf of the logistics center of Via Orzinuovi - Eco Logis have full access 24 h every day without limitation, consistent with the presence of markets and events.

Vehicles located within the LTZ outside of these hours are subject to fines, even via remote portals.

By order of the Municipality of Brescia n° 19743, all vehicles registered as trucks which are exclusively powered by electricity may access the whole ordinary limited traffic area (ZTL) + Paolo VI Nord and Sud (Portale Querini, Trieste, X Giornate). The access period covers 24 hours from Monday to Saturday.
Those entering for the first time must send a copy of the vehicle registration document to infoztl@bresciamobilita.it

Vehicles heading to garages in Via C. Cattaneo can enter the ZTL provided that access takes place from Piazza Tebaldo Brusato.

Customers of hotels and B&Bs located in the ZTL can drop off and pick up luggage directly at the facility. They must contact the facility to find out the permitted route and register their number plate.

Using the Gratta e Sosta (Scratch and Park) ticket, all citizens can submit an access request valid on the day of activation only (the permit expires at 11.59 pm) from all access points except Querini - Trieste / X Giornate, Piazza Paolo VI and Corso Zanardelli and Piazza Loggia Nord/Sud.

People with disabilities who are residents of the city of Brescia having the appropriate permit can enter all LTZ areas, including the access points of Corso Zanardelli, Piazza Paolo VI or pedestrian areas.

Authorisation is given to the licence plate of the vehicle indicated on the submitted permit.

If it becomes necessary to temporarily change the licence plate having authorised access, please contact the LTZ Access Control office of Brescia Mobilità S.p.A. tel. 030.306.1115, communicating personal information and the license plate of the vehicle that will be used. The permit must be displayed on the windscreen of the vehicle with which the holder enters the LTZ.

Disabled permit holders who are not residents in the municipality of Brescia can request the inclusion of their vehicle's licence plate number among those authorised for access to the LTZ if they work in the LTZ or if they have to enter the LTZ for study or medical care. Such requests should be made to the office of the Servizio Mobilità, Eliminazione barriere architettoniche, Trasporto pubblico, Ufficio Permessi ZTL e Invalidi with their personal documents (disabled permit and vehicle registration) at the Servizio Gestione del Traffico located in Via Marconi, 12 on Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm, on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm.

Those who occasionally enter the LTZ can communicate their vehicle's license plate number prior to entering the LTZ or within 48 hours after entering by calling 030.306.1115 or by sending an email to infoztl@bresciamobilita.it  or by Whatsapp at 3499716156.
